The Work Begins!
Quotes are in and the work has begun. Thank you back home in the USA for your support! Today, Friday, we finished uncovering a sidewalk that was buried under a foot of sand that has built up from all the sandstorms here. We used stray pieces of concrete to create a border to shield the sidewalk just a bit from the sand. The sidewalk though, ends short of the building and the main entrance, so we contracted a mason to construct the missing sidewalk. He went out today and purchased the material and will start tomorrow (Saturday) morning. For about 20 feet of homemade sidewalk we spent $75...not bad. The painter started putting the primer on the corridor ceiling and upper walls today. He'll finish priming tomorrow and put on the final coat on Sunday. Next week he will be patching the lower half of the walls then painting them. From there, he'll paint the 6th graders' classroom and then repaint all the blackboards (8) in the school. Tomorrow another mason will work on patching the cement floor in the classroom just mentioned. If he does a good job and money remains, we'll have him do another classroom and the main corridor. The pictures and I hope a revised or even second slideshow will highlight our work. Again, thanks for your help!
